Mont Rocher Malbec Mont Rocher Malbec comes from the Aude Valley area of Southern France. Winemakers are travelling further South in France these days in order to find untapped landscapes for which to plant grape varieties that are resistant to the increasing temperatures of the sun. The valley is a spectacular landscape to look at and the wine is equally enjoyable. Tasting Note: Malbec is to Beef what Laurel is to hardy or Salt is to pepper. They go great together and are awesome when paired together. This is deep in colour, with ripe plums, blackberries, and cherries on the nose. It is rounded with big tannins. The finish is smooth and succulent. Food Match: We have paired this with Aromatic Beef Aloo
Montsable Chardonnay The wines of Montsablé are inspired by the desire to craft elegant Burgundian varietals from Southern France. Working with growers in cooler sites of lower vigour, we seek out fruit that delivers pure flavours and great balance. In the winery, the fruit is handled carefully to build texture and mouthfeel, with oak only ever used to add just the most subtle of seasoning. The result is a Chardonnay with great palate weight, bright fruit and texture while our Pinot positively sings with lifted cherry and wild strawberry fruit. Tasting Note: This classic Burgundian variety has been produced in the sunny climate of Languedoc in the south of France. Although much warmer than the cool climate of the Côte d'Or great care has been taken to ensure that it is every bit as elegant. A bright yellow gold hue and seductive scents of blossom and cinnamon spice. A remarkable melange of pears, peach, honey toffee, cream and vanilla (from a short spell of oak ageing) on the palate. Beautifully balanced with ripeness, acidity, length and real structure. A very classy Chardonnay Food Match: We have paired this with Baked Salmon with Kale & Mint Roast Potatoes
Felicette Grenache Noir Wines inspired by the spirit of place - ‘L ’esprit de lieu’. The wines of Terres Fidèles are created in the Roussillon and surrounding regions, a place of remarkable stories where layers of history and cultures are embedded in the raw and wild landscape. Felicette red is a fruity and very well-balanced blend produced in the South-West of France, between Narbonne and Beziers, with a hot and dry Mediterranean climate influence. Soils are sandy and silty as well as a chalk/ clay mix on the hillsides. Tasting Note: A bright red colour with purplish reflections. A powerful nose of violets and red fruits. Very tasty in the mouth with raspberry and plum aromas. Medium-bodied on the palate, soft and juicy. Food Match: We have paired this with Honey and Lime Chicken with Coconut Rice and Kacumber Salad
Castillo de Eneriz Reserva Vic Manzanos has a nose for wine, and given his Rioja estate already straddles the border of Rioja and Navarra, he thought adding a very good Navarra estate would be exciting. 18 months in barrel and a full 6 years in bottle make this a real cracker! Tasting Note: Rioja without the name and price tag, made by a master of Rioja! This wine balances oaky character with fruitiness and hints of spice with a finish as lengthy as you would expect from a classic reserva. Food Match: We have paired this with Thai Meatballs with Stir Fried Veg & Jasmine Rice
