Pancake Party
It is definitely one of my favourite times of the year – Pancake Tuesday! Whether you’ve a sweet tooth like myself or prefer the savoury style, there is something for everyone on Pancake Tuesday!
Did you know?
Pancake Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday, always falls 47 days before Easter. The date may move around but it will always be between February 3 and March 9.
If traditional pancakes are what you’re looking for this year then this recipe from BBC Food is exactly what you need. These pancakes are perfectly thick and fluffy, ideal for stacking and layering with your favourite flavours. Why not use your pancakes as a vehicle for your favourite fruit to get in some important vitamins and minerals? Apple, cinnamon and honey are delicious, sweet and spicy. I like to use my little honey jars from DropChef to help with portion control.
Maybe savoury is what you’re looking for? Why not take inspiration from your favourite DropChef dinners? Pesto pancakes topped with roasted cherry tomatoes and pine nuts are a personal favourite based on one of DropChef’s vegetarian pasta dishes featuring Happy Pear Pesto .
Can’t choose between sweet and savoury? Don’t choose. Have both. Smokey bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup, well that’s just heaven on a plate. This topping works best with plain pancakes but hey, if you want herby pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, you go for it!
I have been known to forget to add the egg to my DropChef Pad Thai – anyone else in my boat? With that lonely egg, I recently came up with a new breakfast pancake recipe that you can get on my Facebook page – The Baking Nutritionist . There’s always a silver lining.
